Dutch streetcar (tram) on the Bridge.
Streetcar (tram) on the Bridge. Beside a number for a certain track, Amsterdam still use colour combinations to identify the tram line.
The use of colours has its origin in 1900, when illiteracy was common with large groups of citizens. In Amsterdam the colours white, yellow, red, blue and green are used for the plane geometry. The combinations white-yellow and blue-green are not used due to poor legibility.
